Project overview
Initial Designs was appointed to transform a bare-shell unit at The Village in Edgbaston into a second wine bar and tasting venue for Loki Wine. The project combined brand, customer experience and day-to-day operation within a coordinated proposal for approval and fit-out.

Design story
We began by understanding how Loki wanted the venue to operate and how it should feel to customers. The new location needed to have its own character while remaining recognisably part of the existing Loki Wine brand.
Mood boards and specification studies established the direction for materials, finishes, furniture, branding and key features. Considering these elements alongside the layout allowed the interior and architectural decisions to develop together.
The plan was organised around customer circulation, service areas, the accessible WC and back-of-house requirements. Ventilation, licensing and other technical considerations were incorporated as the design progressed so they could be coordinated before construction.
Because the premises formed part of the Calthorpe Estate development, we worked with the property team to prepare and present the proposal for approval. The resulting plans and supporting information brought the customer-facing concept and operational requirements together in one practical fit-out design.
